Facts about Grosse Pointe

Located in Wayne County, Grosse Pointe is home to more than 5,400 people. Found east of Detroit, the small city is considered a suburb. The area's history dates back to the latter part of the 19th century. Grosse Pointe was originally incorporated as a village in 1880. It would be 1934 before it was incorporated as a city. 

Grosse Pointe has a reputation for being a somewhat wealthy city, and also one that takes great pride in its past. Much effort is made to find a balance between offering ample entertainment and shopping options, while making the most of historical structures found throughout the city. 

For those who like to shop, there's a district known as The Village. Found in the area of Kercheval Road between Neff and Cadieux. it offers a variety of shops, stores, and other venues to enjoy. 

In terms of history, there are a number of places to visit. The Waterman House was originally the home of the inventor of the outboard motor. Within the home, there's a chapel that was constructed in and imported from England.
